My practice is determined by the human tendency towards mindless behaviour. Through memories of personal experiences the work transmits the social disease relative to mob mentality which prevails in today’s society. The civilised world is always prone to rupture and the chaotic, claustrophobic scenes are reminiscent of this.
Occasionally, the work confronts issues regarding migration and global conflict.
Working from a quick pencil sketch I become totally immersed in the process, embracing the expressive physicality of the paint, rapidly building up the layers in an explosion of considered and spontaneous marks.
